Overview

Free Plant Identifier (freeplantidentifier.net) lets you identify plants from a photo in your browser, for free. This page explains what we process to operate that feature.

Photos and identification

Uploading a photo sends that image to our identification API, which returns a species match, a confidence score, and related care notes. Processing exists to run the feature — we do not sell photos to anyone.

Accounts and history

Signed-in accounts keep an identification history tied to that account so results are available across devices. Guest use keeps a lighter, device-scoped history limited to the features you actually use.

Hosting, email, and analytics

We rely on standard hosting, analytics, and transactional email to run the service. Those providers only see what is needed to operate the site. Cookies handle session state, basic preferences, and lightweight analytics.

Informational results only

Everything returned by identification is informational, not veterinary, medical, or professional botanical advice. If pets, children, or allergies are involved, confirm toxicity and safety with a qualified professional before acting on it.

Retention and your requests

Identification-related data is kept only as long as the service needs it, or as required by law. Reach out if you want to ask about accessing or deleting account-linked data.

Policy updates

This policy may change as the product evolves; continuing to use the site after an update means you accept the current version. This service runs at freeplantidentifier.net and is operated independently.
